New Construction

Right From the Start.

For a new home or a new commercial building, the system is designed with the plans, installed on the builder’s schedule, tested, and handed to you in writing.

A new building is the best time to get heating and cooling right, because the system can be planned with the building. This page explains what the work covers, from design with the plans to testing and handoff, and how it fits with your builder and architect.

What It Covers

What New Construction Covers.

  • Design With the Plans.

A room-by-room load calculation from the actual drawings, equipment chosen to fit, and ducts designed before the framing is done.

  • Coordination With Your Builder and Architect.

One point of contact who schedules around the other trades and tells you early if anything slips.

  • Rough-In and Trim-Out.

Ducts, lines, drains and wiring while the walls are open, then the finish work after.

  • Permits and Inspections.

We agree who pulls the permit, and I attend the inspections the work needs.

  • Testing the Code Calls For.

New buildings are tested for duct and building leakage and for ventilation. I tell you what applies and who does it.

  • Startup, Commissioning and Handoff.

The system is started, measured and documented, and you receive the design, the results and the warranty paperwork.

Questions

Questions People Ask.

How Early Should I Involve You?

As early as you can, ideally while the plans can still change.

Do You Work on New Commercial Buildings?

Yes, light-commercial buildings such as small offices, shops and workshops. For something larger than I should take on, I will point you to a firm that does that work.

Do You Work With My Architect or Builder?

Yes. One point of contact makes it easier for everyone.

What Does It Cost?

It depends on the building and the choices you make. You get a written proposal with the options and the price before anything is ordered.

What We’d Tell a Friend

The best time to get a heating and cooling system right is before the walls are closed. A duct that has a clear path on paper is easy. The same duct in a finished wall is a compromise.

So I like to be involved early. Even a short conversation before the design is final can save a lot of cost and frustration later.

Ready for a Castle of Comfort?

A consultation starts with a conversation about how your home is behaving, not a sales pitch.
